Brief DescriptionOutside Plant Technician (OSP)_Aerial & UndergroundWecom Fiber is seeking skilled and dependable Aerial and Underground OSP Technicians to join our team. As an OSP Technician, your primary responsibility will be to install, repair, and maintain outside plant (OSP) telecommunications infrastructure. This includes installing and troubleshooting copper and fiber optic cables, conducting surveys and assessments, and ensuring the proper functioning of OSP equipment. Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain OSP telecommunications infrastructure, including copper and fiber optic cables.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose faults or issues with OSP equipment.
- Conduct surveys and assessments to determine the status and condition of OSP infrastructure.
- Perform cable assemblies, terminations, and testing.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Utilize equipment such as fusion splicers, OTDRs, power meters, and cable locator tools.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.
- Provide support to customers and internal teams as needed.
- Keep accurate records of work completed, materials used, and any other relevant information.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in OSP technology.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an OSP Technician or related role.
- Lineman experience is preferred.
- Experience with underground utility placements.
- Strong knowledge of OSP telecommunications infrastructure and equipment.
- Proficient in the installation, termination, and testing of copper and fiber optic cables.
- Familiarity with fusion splicers, OTDRs, power meters, and cable locator tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
