A qualified candidate for this role should possess extensive knowledge of government agencies as well as experience in the aerospace and defense industry. They should be well-versed in NIST ratings and have hands-on experience operating CNC Lathe, Mill, Vertical, Horizontal, and Wire EDM machines to produce parts with a weight range of 1-10 pounds.
The candidate must have a good grasp of several materials such as Steel, Aluminum, Titanium, Stainless Steel, Inconel, Hastelloy, copper, and brass. They must also be able to read blueprints and understand GD&T. It would be an added advantage if the candidate has a background in selling precision machined products and possesses knowledge of the necessary tooling systems and resources required to sell these products.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of a decade of experience working in a precision machining environment and at least five years of experience in sales. They must possess a good understanding of the market, and be able to identify sales opportunities across the United States.
Note that there may be opportunities in sheet metal work as well. All in all, the ideal candidate should be a highly experienced and knowledgeable individual who can effectively sell precision machined products to a range of clients in the aerospace and defense industry.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients in the aerospace, defense, and precision metals manufacturing fields.
Identify and locate potential clients through various channels, including networking and cold calling.
Devise and implement sales strategies for specific regions or industries.
Apply extensive knowledge of the field and product features to match products to the needs of clients.
Address client inquiries about products, their applications, and the industry as a whole.
Provide clients with information, quotes, credit terms, and other bid specifications.
Negotiate prices, conditions of sale, and/or service agreements, and prepare contracts and submit orders.
Collaborate with purchasing departments, managers, and other staff to ensure orders are processed accurately and efficiently and products are distributed appropriately.
Prepare reports on account results, status, and leads for managers at regular intervals.
Carry out other duties as assigned.
