Summary

Requires the performance of all of the duties and responsibilities of a security guard (see security guard job description) plus the additional listed below along with other duties that may be assigned.

Eligibility

Above average annual review, demonstrate a working knowledge of company and departmental policy and procedures; ability to make decisions without direct supervision; demonstrate ability to take charge in emergency situations; demonstrates the ability to be flexible in working hours, locations and conditions; foster an overall Security Department, and Weber-Stephen Products LLC Team atmosphere.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversee the day-to-day shift operations of the department
  • Ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the guards
  • Demonstrates an ability to take charge in emergency situations
  • Stay calm in emergencies
  • Communicates with security management and the other coordinators
  • Demonstrates the ability to be multi-tasking/functional using logic, prior experience and job knowledge to prioritize events and respond to them accordingly
  • Makes suggestions to security management on process improvements
  • May represent the department at meetings as required and assigned
  • Assists in the implementation of all directives put forth by management
  • Reads and approves all case reports from the shift prior to forwarding them to the Supervisor and Manager in a timely manner
  • Completes initial investigations on incidents and accidents (beyond the basic security report)
  • Instructs security guards in policies and procedures as assigned by security management
  • Communicates effectively in a clear, concise fashion with security management both verbally and in writing
  • Works with other Security Coordinators in maintaining records and tabulations for daily, monthly, and annual reports etc.

Attendance/Punctuality

Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.

Education and/or Experience


High school diploma or equivalent; Basic computer knowledge

Language Skills


Ability to read the English language and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence in the English language both by hand and via the computer; check the reports from the shift for form and content (who, what, when where, how and if known why); complete initial investigations, beyond the initial report.

Work with little or no direct supervision; prioritize information/incidents as it relates to the goals and mission of the security department and the company. Interact and communicate in a positive manner with people of diverse backgrounds both inside and outside of the security department; make decisions based on the information known at the time and if requested to articulate that decision.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations


  • Must become CPR and or First Aid Certified. – Maintain a Valid Illinois Driver’s License
  • May be necessary to undergo EPA training as required by specific position or building.

Other Skills and Abilities

Available to respond to activated alarms after hours, weekends and on holidays.

Cross train at all Weber LLC locations.
