50 FLSA Job Summary / Basic Function The Sustainability Engagement Coordinator position is for a full-time WSU student who will work in the Sustainability Practices and Research Center (SPARC), reporting to the Sustainability Programs and Engagement Manager.
The coordinator will serve as the Environmental Ambassador (EA) Vice President, work closely with the EA President, assist in campus engagement, help to invite student groups underrepresented in sustainability to engage in sustainability activities, attend events, and learn about WSU’s sustainability goals and practices.
Duties will include collaborating with the EA President, identifying and building sustainability
collaborations across campus, especially at the student level, connecting with student clubs, tabling, giving presentations, and assisting to develop an EcoCats certification for student clubs.
They will invite students to participate in sustainability activities, research sustainability resources and programs from across campus, and make these known to the SPARC and ESO team leaders and the wider campus community.
They will help to promote these activities, as well as develop cross-collaborations across WSU campuses. The coordinator will be available to support other clubs in planning sustainable events, and / or assistance with set up / breakdown of events, etc Additionally, the coordinator will help with data collection and reports, assist with website updates, and to promote a culture of environmental sustainability throughout the WSU community.
Required Qualifications Education
Must be a current WSU student. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required to apply. Student applicants may be majoring in a variety of fields, such as environmental studies / science, communications, education, marketing, business, geography, political science, etc.
Experience
Through volunteer activities or work, applicants must demonstrate that they can successfully manage a project or program from initiation to completion.
Applicants must also demonstrate basic experience with or knowledge of environmental and sustainability-related issues. Successful completion of environmental / sustainability-related coursework can suffice for this requirement.
