Weber School District is Hiring a District Office - CTE Coordinator (23357) Near Ogden, UT

A position has been declared open in the WSD for a Career & Technical Education (CTE) coordinator. This individual assists site principals and CTE teachers in administering, monitoring, and implementing the requirements for a quality CTE and concurrent enrollment program, grant requirements, and professional learning communities to support implementation of CTE program requirements. The CTE coordinator will have both school and district responsibilities providing leadership and support for the staff and collaborates with administrators, instructional staff, other districts, universities, business partners, and community members in assuring that appropriate CTE curriculum and instructional practices are occurring in all classrooms. 

The position will be for 213 days per year and will include a 9% stipend.

Required Education and Training: Must hold a current Career & Technical Education License or a Secondary Teaching License with a Career & Technical Education endorsement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists with promoting high quality programs that enable students to attain employment or pursue post-secondary opportunities in related areas of interest
  • Must have a demonstrated knowledge of curriculum design and administration in the CTE area & collaborate with others, peers and promote best practices.
  • Must have a demonstrated knowledge of educational leadership and be able to provide CTE leadership, lead meetings, trainings and PLC’s for all CTE curriculum areas, on both a school and district level.
  • Must be able to effectively work at fostering partnerships with community, business & industry to strengthen the relationship between CTE & the workplace.
  • Must be able to organize, recruit and run CTE advisory committees for ongoing industry partnerships that add relevance and internship opportunities for students
  • Must be willing to develop a working knowledge of all aspects of CTE management, including but not limited to the following; curriculum development, budgeting, reporting systems, purchasing, equipment inventory, CTE operations, Perkins
  • Must be able to oversee and promote CTE through outreach, marketing, comm.
  • Maintain a variety of detailed records in written and electronic formats
  • Provide leadership and supervision for assigned CTSO to grow program area.
  • Understand state skills testing and be able to make important decisions using the testing data. Use other data that reflects regional labor market demands.
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with post-secondary institutions including universities, OTECH providing current enrollment opportunities for students. 
  • Develop a vision of how to build programs, promote CTE pathways, and recruitment of teachers with a CTE emphasis.
  • Communicates and cooperates with principal, counselors, district staff, and other professional staff to develop high quality for students enrolled in CTE programs.
  • Demonstrates professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.
  • Conforms to district policies including attendance, absences and evaluations. Employee attendance must be adequate to perform the above listed functions.
  • Assists in hiring, supporting, mentoring, and supervising CTE teachers, assisting with recruiting and retaining skilled staff and professional development.
