Language Learners Aide
A position has been declared open in the Weber School District Digital Learning for an Elementary Language Learners Aide. This position is for 2 hours per day, 180 days per year.

SUMMARY DEFINITION
Under the supervision of the classroom teacher (instructor), perform necessary duties of a responsible nature to assist in and meet the goals of the comprehensive plans for English Learners Development (ELD); to assist in the planning and implementation of programs for English learners (EL); and to assist in the monitoring of student progress and assessment both in-person and online.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES
(ELL), utilizing knowledge of adult learning theory and cycles of data analysis and reflection to improve instructional practice and meet institutional goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Weber School District determines whether a candidate is qualified based on the fulfillment of prerequisites, relevant work experience, ability to perform the essential functions, reference checks, effective interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated by interview performance and/or writing samples, and achievement on performance-based assessments (if applicable) that demonstrate the candidate possesses the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities. Meeting the prerequisites only satisfies the initial screening process and does not indicate the candidate is qualified to perform the essential functions of the position.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skill is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skill would be:
Experience: One (1) year of experience in performing various duties equivalent to a Paraeducator in an educational environment is desirable.
Education: High school diploma or GED required; advanced education/coursework and/or training in the implementation of instructional methodologies, child development, student assessment, etc. is desirable.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Physical Requirements: Consistent mental alertness; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects up to 30 pounds, occasionally 30 pounds; bending and twisting at the waist; reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally; dexterity of both hands and fingers while performing duties; seeing to read, write and use the computer; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone and to make presentations.
Personal Qualities: Appearance, grooming, and personality that establish a desirable example for students.
