Weber School District is Hiring a Content specialist Near Ogden, UT

General Description

The Weber School District Secondary Mathematics Specialist is an expert in curriculum content, ensuring alignment with core standards and supporting teachers.

They identify and promote effective instructional practices to enhance student learning, emphasizing rigorous assignments and differentiated instruction.

Collaborating with instructional coaches, strengthen the understanding of the Professional Learning Community (PLC) process.

Additionally, they facilitate professional learning experiences that incorporate pedagogy, content, and leadership, while building the capacity of teachers and promoting research and evidence-based approaches.

They serve as a point of contact and leader for teachers within the district,

advocating for best practices and representing the district as required, all achieved by building trust and strong relationships.

It is important to note that this position does not involve evaluating certified colleagues.

This role is a full time teaching position with a 182-day contract, with the possibility of additional days as

required. If required, additional days will be compensated at the workshop rate.

Job Description

Leader in Curriculum

Function as a professional expert within content including core standards, pacing guides, assessments, proficiency scales, and teacher support.

Leader in Instruction

  • Identify and share best practices to increase student learning.
  • Ensure grade-level, rigorous assignments that prepare students for the next level.
  • Differentiated instruction to ensure high levels of learning for ALL students.
  • Work in partnership with instructional coaches to help strengthen understanding of the PLC Process through the mathematics content lens.
  • Participate in district and school-level data analysis
  • Help teachers / teams understand and know how to leverage evidence of learning (data)

Leader & Facilitator of Professional Learning

  • Support capacity through designing targeted, research-based professional learning that includes pedagogy, content, and leadership.
  • Leverage the expertise of teachers.
  • Provide structure to support new teachers.
  • Build leadership capacity in mathematics.
  • Increase your capacity to teach and lead by researching, learning, and practicing together.

Advocate

  • Foster relationships of trust with individuals, as well as within school and district teams.
  • Serve as an ongoing contact person and leader for the teachers within the district.
  • Promote and share content best practices that help teams respond to their evidence of learning (data).

Qualifications :

  • Valid Utah Secondary Education Teaching License with a Level III Math Endorsement.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and inspire a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, district teams, and committee members.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development principles, instructional design methodologies, and the PLC process.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of best practices in mathematics and computer science education.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary essential function of this job.
