Objective The Party Chief II is responsible for the managing the activities of a survey party throughout various job locations. The Party Chief II provides highly technical support and insight to project management for heavy civil projects. Job Duties
Utilize survey equipment and manage others to locate, review, and research job locations. Operations include identifying landmarks, physical objects, and significant land changes that would affect the required survey
Supervise survey work, evaluate priorities, and coordinate work efforts
Review the standard of work being performed and derive necessary field calculations from work completed
Utilize and provide training for survey instruments and equipment
Ensures that angles, distance, and information are accurate and conform to regulations and standards
Record and illustrate, in note form, a neat and legible reproduction of work performed
Consult with computer operators and provide knowledge during the final computations. Ensure that the final map of plat represents a comprehensive and accurate description of the field survey
Perform administrative functions such as completing time sheets, creating vehicle mileage reports, maintaining expense accounts, and documenting subsequent expenditures
Maintain a highly organized work area and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Write reports, business correspondence, and project documents
Present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees of the organization
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Other unlisted duties will be assigned
Qualifications
Five (5) or more years or experience as a Party Chief in heavy highway and bridge projects
Be able to communicate in English via verbal and written communications
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and utilize Construction Math concepts including calculating rate, ratio, and percent. Draw and interpret bar graphs
Valid driver license for occasional, required travel
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables
Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature. Some exposure to outdoors with changing weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and wind
Ability to physically maneuver by foot minor obstacles at construction projects
Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers
