Webb Chemical Service Corporation is Hiring a Plant Manager Near Muskegon, MI

Webb Chemical's Plant Manager is responsible for driving operational excellence, optimizing processes & procedures, and ensuring all work is performed to meet or exceed the many standards required of the business. The Plant Manager is accountable for the physical facilities, buildings, equipment and all aspects of day-to-day physical operations of chemical packaging, transfers & handling, shipping & receiving, production planning, container packaging & asset management including: plant safety, plant maintenance, inventory management, quality control and the personnel management of direct and indirect reports. The Plant Manager will perform duties in a manner consistent with Webb’s 6 core values (safety, integrity, relationship focus, results oriented, family, and fun) that meets every aspects of Webb’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Commitment adding value to our communities, customers, coworkers and company. Salary commensurate with experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors of Science and/or MBA, Bachelors of Engineering preferred
  • 5 years’ experience as Plant Manager / Operations Manager / Director in a company with similar role, responsibilities and size
  • Previous Leadership of multifunctional groups consisting of 30 people
  • Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma certification
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems
  • Proven track record of driving growth, increasing productivity and controlling cost
SKILLS
  • Operating a distribution business or chemical distribution
  • Performing operations accounting, budgeting, project management financials
  • Implementing 5S standards working in a distribution warehouse
  • Communication excellence (written and verbal)
  • Problem solving and decision making
  • Prior experience in safety, environmental, and/or regulatory compliance programs
  • Analytical assessment of data
  • Employing good judgement
  • High EQ (emotional intelligence)
  • Multi-tasking and organization
  • Leading calmly in high stress or emergency situations
  • Computer & Technology savvy, Microsoft 365 and/or office suite proficient
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Personnel
    • Complete annual review of direct reports and ensure, all indirect reviews are completed, appropriate and on time
      • Set up goals, evaluate progress and provide support
      • Coach, Teach, Train, Guide
      • Challenge personnel to grow their individual knowledge/skills (furthering education, certifications, professional training, etc.)
    • Review, respond and give feedback to all suggestions or improvement ideas
    • Oversight of all schedules for plant operation and maintenance
    • Manage and delegate staff for all projects small to large
    • Provide time, resources and support to Webb’s HR, EH&S and Quality teams for each of their management systems (LMS / SMS / QMS)
    • Responsible for communication and relaying the information regarding company-wide and departmental information to employees (i.e.: policies, procedural changes, pay system, benefits, etc.)
    • Maintain confidentiality at all times
    • Operate with an open door policy for all employees
    • Encourage employee engagement
      • Organize day of appreciation for plant operational employees
      • Hold quarterly meetings for plant operational employees
      • Hold routine staff meetings for plant operations leadership
  • Environmental, Health & Safety
    • Responsible for ensuring plant operational employees adhering, maintaining and performing to our EH&S programs
    • Support EH&S team with AIR’s, Audits and Investigation resources
    • Provide engineering solutions for EH&S problems
    • Support Webb Hazmat team with plant operational employee participation
  • Regulatory
    • Responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance including audits, documentation, reports, and training in conjunction with the EH&S department
    • Directly work with regulatory agencies including but not limited to; DHS, MIOSHA, EGLE, FRA, DOT, CFATS, EPA, NFPA, etc…
    • Department of Homeland Security, CVI certification
    • MI Dept. of EGLE, Certified Storm Water Management Operator
  • ISO/RD/FSSC
    • Responsible for performing to standards and processes at Webb including documentation and training of plant operational employees
  • Technical
    • Performing blend formulations and maintenance thereof with correction feedback
    • Performing reviews for all new products in Webb’s portfolio
    • Reporting Operational KPIs as established by Senior Leadership
    • Assist in quality-related issues
    • Provide oversight and recommendations for new processes or changes to processes
  • Projects
    • Tracking and reporting with Finance department
    • Cross-functional projects in multiple areas of the company
    • Plant Expansion, constructions and improvement
    • Site Planning
  • Financial
    • Develop capital budget and project implementation
    • Significant involvement in insurance audit process
    • Development, investigation, track and perform to operational expense budget
    • Cost control, savings and improvements
  • Member of Webb Management Team
  • Other duties as assigned by Officers of the company

WORK SCHEDULE
  • Business Hours- Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • Regular and Consistent Attendance, After Hours/Weekends- as needed
  • Available by text / phone / email at all hours
  • Out-Of-Town- trips to suppliers, customers, trainings, conferences etc. as needed
