Job Location: Weaver Encore ADS - Chapel Hill - Akron, OH
Salary Range: $17.00

Description

Summary/Objective

The Encore DSP will be responsible for the coordination of the entire social/activity program within the facility; to include and consider all client's needs, interests, and abilities. Strive to enrich the client's lifestyle by promoting an optimum level of constructive and quality leisure time activities.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develops and promotes recreation programs including music, dance, arts and crafts, cultural arts, nature study, social recreation, and physically and mentally stimulating exercises.
  • Promotes an atmosphere that encourages self-expression of individuals' needs, concerns, abilities, and choices.
  • Knowledgeable of and implements all safety, universal precautions, and Company policies/procedures for protecting individuals, coworkers, and self.
  • Establishes and maintains a good rapport and supportive relationship with all individuals and families.
  • Identifies and utilizes individuals' knowledge, skills, and talents.
  • Keeps abreast of current events within the community and utilizes available resources.
  • Organizes and maintains both daily and monthly schedules of activities. Informs and assists individuals regarding activities.
  • Interprets recreation services to the public and participates in community meetings and organizational planning.
  • Maintains files as follows:
    • Individual information about personal interests, abilities, needs, etc. - Social History
    • Community resources
    • Volunteer sources
    • Activity resource materials
    • Inventory of craft and project supplies
    • Record of expenditures
    • Submits budget for program development.

Qualifications


  • Must have a strong knowledge of the local community, area, and region.
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs and e-mail.
  • Need to be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver's license for the safe operation of the company vehicle.
  • Previous experience working with the senior population is a plus.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to work with your hands, walk, stoop, kneel, bend and reach with hands and arms
  • The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • Monday through Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm

Required Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma required.
  • Experience managing calendars.
