COST ACCOUNTANT - MANUFACTURING

The Cost Accountant will be responsible in assisting and maintaining manufacturing and cost accounting functions. Responsibilities include reporting, audit compliance, process improvements, and driving the business results with the team.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform a combination of cost accounting tasks and provide general accounting support at month end closings.
  • Analyze material, labor, and overhead cost variances.
  • Provide oversight, analysis, and reporting of company inventory.
  • Preparation of monthly journal entries, analysis of invoicing, reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts, assignment of account coding and approval of expenditures.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end cost accounting close requirements to meet corporate deadlines.
  • Prepare recurring and adjusting journal entries as part of the month end close process.
  • Prepare cost accounting reports to monitor manufacturing expenses and inventory trends.
  • Review and explain month end manufacturing variances between actual and standard costs, and provide recommendations as needed.
  • Monitor and observe cycle counts as required.
  • Manage monthly scrap process.

Certifications/Skills:

  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Advanced user of MS Excel
  • Understanding of organizational accounting concepts
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • JD Edwards experience a plus
  • Effective communication, including writing, speaking, and active listening
  • Collaboration and teamwork

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business administration or equivalent related experience

Minimum Experience:

A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a financial reporting/manufacturing accounting role
