Job Description

The Electronic technician III is a fully qualified level job. Performs standard testing processes on a variety of equipment and records and analyzes results. Requires knowledge of industry-specific tests and testing equipment. Confers with supervisor on unusual matters. Has direct oversight of processes or projects.

  • Responsible for ensuring duties are performed in a safe, efficient, and effective manner
  • Perform all competency and training courses to acquire the necessary job skills
  • Interpret electrical and mechanical drawings with guidance to assist in diagnosis and equipment repair
  • Perform operations using testing and calibration equipment
  • Assist in performing complex repairs
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and minor repairs with limited supervision
  • Operate and maintain TRS equipment in the shop
  • Perform maintenance and repairs of equipment in the shop
  • Assist in testing and adjusting equipment
  • Recommend measures to improve methods, performance, and quality to increase efficiency
  • Required to work on a 24-hour call basis
  • Participate in all JSA and safety meetings related to current operations
  • Must have the ability to grasp and adapt to changing work environments and conditions
  • Must be able to perform advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting when needed
  • Know and understand Weatherford quality policy and comply with all requirements of the TRS manual and work instructions
  • Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford
  • Work assignments carried out to the highest quality standard
  • Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by the supervisor within the physical constraints of the job
  • Experience with Transmitters and Sensors
  • Ability to read wiring schematics

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of oilfield experience
  • 3-4 years of related field experience 
  • High School diploma (or Secondary School Diploma or equivalent) as a minimum. Preferred 2 years College degree 
  • General product knowledge 
  • Mechanical ability necessary to perform repairs 
  • Valid Driver’s license 
  • Basic Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel computer skills 
  • Self-motivator, self-starter 
  • Good oral and written communication skills 
  • Must be able to follow instructions 
  • Able to work closely with fellow employees
  • Skills acquired through a technical school in electronics or related work experience
  • Previous experience in troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment
  • Experience with PLC, motor starters, and electrical instrumentation preferred
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
  • Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
  • Minimum 3 years industry related experience
  • Professional and effective communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of operating mechanical equipment
  • Journeyman experience
