Dietetic Technician

Pearl Nursing Centeris actively seeking a motivated Dietetic Technician for our Skilled Nursing Facility in Rochester, NY.

Description:

Dietitian Technicians assist professional dietitians by performing standardized nutritional care tasks such as summarizing and maintaining records of patient’s diets, providing information on diets and food preparation to patients and their families, and consulting with facility staff regarding changes in patient’s diets. Prepares and maintains patient’s dietary histories as part of their nutritional care and overall treatment plans. Records current diet plans prescribed by the physician as well as modified diet orders written by the physician. Regularly prepares a census showing the number of patients under each diet plan available.

DUTIES:

·Assists in screening patients at nutritional risk by interviewing patients to obtain diet history, limited nutrition assessment data and food preferences

·Reviews medical record to obtain pertinent nutrition information

·Evaluates data collected to determine if patients are at nutritional risk

·Modifies daily menus in accordance with the patient's diet prescription, food preferences, etc.

·Implements nutrition care plan and provides consultation for those not at nutritional risk

·Refers patients at nutritional risk to a qualified dietitian

·Documents nutritional screening/assessment information into the system and appropriate assessment forms

·Observes patients during meal service noting food acceptance and adherence to diet

REQUIREMENTS:

·Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college with at least a bachelor’s degree in dietetics or nutrition.

·Must be a New York State Certified Dietitian or Dietitian-Nutritionist and an American Dietetic Association (ADA) Registered Dietitian at time of appointment.
