Wayside Recovery Center is Hiring a Peer Recovery Specialist Near Minneapolis, MN

Wayside Family Treatment Center maintains the family unit by welcoming women who are pregnant and mothers with children into treatment to prevent separation. We receive services for addiction, parenting, understanding how their alcohol or substance use contributes to Adverse Childhood Experiences, and improving their relationship skills to ultimately break the generational transmission of risk.

What you will do:

  • Meet with clients on a regular basis to discuss routine recovery issues from a peer perspective.
  • Provide direct assistance in the form of transportation, filling out forms or making phone calls, and accompanying clients to appropriate appointments or court.
  • Transporting and staying with clients at crisis appointments.
  • Maintain confidential client records through the EHR, and ensure records are accurate, timely, and complete. 
  • Assist in finding necessary community services to meet basis needs.
  • Outreach and follow-up with non-residential program participants where they live as needed, help acclimate them to their new surroundings, and explore recovery resources in the area.
  • Provide education about and attend self-help groups, obtaining sponsorship, and assisting clients in finding recovery support meetings that accommodate their schedules and childcare needs.
  • Serve as the contact person for in-house meetings, facilitate in-house Alumnae Meeting, and attend outside meetings with clients.
  • Cross-training in the Recovery Advocate department as needed.
  • Assist in planning and supervising recreational activities for clients.

Compensation: $19 per hour

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Sunday-Thursday 12:30p-8:30p

Sound like a good fit? A few requirements include:

  • High school diploma/GED 
  • Personal experience in substance use recovery is required.
  • Certified Peer Recovery Specialist through Minnesota Certification board
  • 18 years or older
  • Adult and child CPR – training provided if needed.
  • Required to hold a current credential from a certification body approved by the commissioner that demonstrates skills and training in the domains off ethics and boundaries, advocacy, mentoring and education, and recovery and wellness support.
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of substance use disorder and/or mental health.
  • Congenial, organized, and compassionate individual to work in cooperative team relationship within the agency and with external community organizations.
  • The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist needs to be innovative, driven, visionary, reliable.
  • Microsoft Outlook/computer experience required.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work with and relate effectively with women of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Must be able to maintain client confidentiality in accordance with state and federal guidelines and HIPAA requirements.
  • Must be able to pass a Minnesota DHS background study.
  • Current and valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle record check – no DUIs in last 3 years
  • Must value diversity and able to relate and enjoy working with clients and children of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Some college/associate degree in human services
