Waypoint Services for Women Children and Families is Hiring a Director Of Housing Services Near Rapids, IA

Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Manage the day-to-day operations of the housing services department and oversee the regional coordinated entry system.

TIME COMMITMENT

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

§ Recruit, hire, supervise and evaluate direct service staff with the assistance of Call Center Manager

§ Assist direct service staff in their duties as necessary

§ Represent Waypoint’s housing services to other administrative staff, the Board of Directors, the Board of Trustees and the community

§ Create, implement and evaluate annual management goals; prepare reports as required

§ Provide supervision of Housing Assistance Programs, assuring grant compliance, case consultation, and proper data collection

§ Assist employees with an annual performance evaluation and goals

§ Facilitate staff meetings with direct service staff and community partners to strengthen communication flow

§ Develop a plan for practicum and intern student activity and for volunteers in coordination Volunteer Coordinator , Supervise and evaluate students and volunteers

§ Complete competitive grants to sustain programing

§ Be familiar with fiscal constraints and remain within budget on expenditures; assist with exploration of new streams of funding to support program/services

§ Oversee the operations of the Balance of State Call Center

§ Be familiar with regional policies and services across the state of Iowa 

§ Be familiar with resources, qualifications, and program policies across out 3 county Coordinated Entry Region

§ Oversee Data Compliance Specialist to complete data entry and record keeping on all program participants as required by local, state and federal funders, planners and supervisors in a timely manner

§ Be active in LAP-AID (Linn Area Partners Active in Disaster) to coordinate resource navigation during active natural disasters

§ Monitor emerging trends within the homeless system and be proactive in identifying community solutions

§ Attend and participate in work assignment reviews with supervisor and regular staff meetings as assigned

§ Attend and participate in community groups, committees and collaborative organizations as assigned representing Waypoint in a positive and professional manner

§ Maintain strong relationships with community partners by being responsive, solution focused, and professional at all times

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

§ Comply with all Waypoint policies and Waypoint letter of employment

§ Maintain client and program confidentiality as defined in the Waypoint Confidentiality Policy

§ Demonstrate a positive attitude and professional manner, both in appearance and actions in carrying out job responsibilities

§ Follow WAYPOINT CRISIS COMMUNICATION PLAN in crisis situations

§ Attend and participate in Waypoint departmental, interdepartmental and staff meetings as directed

§ Maintain scheduled work hours and notify your immediate supervisor personally of absences

§ Support Waypoint events

§ Promote Waypoint team concept by being courteous and helpful to other employees and clients

§ Accurately maintain necessary forms and records and submit in a timely manner, especially Accident/Incident Report Forms

§ Be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the total work environment

§ Complete time cards and/or employment records accurately and submit on time to supervisor

§ This position may require regular evening and weekend work hours; individual must be able to work flexible hours

§ Work with supervisor to develop a professional growth plan

§ Attend in-service trainings and work to increase skills in field

§ Maintain professional and respectful behavior and interaction with all program participants and staff at all times in accordance with the Waypoint Ethics Policy

§ Perform all other duties as assigned by Waypoint

Requirements

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS

§ Four-year degree in Human Services and minimum 3 years’ experience in the homeless and housing service field 

§ Possess an understanding of the dynamics of homelessness, Coordinated Entry, and best practice housing solutions to address homelessness

§ Knowledge and skill in both project and performance management. 

§ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, as well as civic, legal, medical, social, and faith-based organizations. 

§ Demonstrate sensitivity to working with families of diverse racial and cultural backgrounds and an understanding of poverty and oppression.

§ Demonstrate the ability to communicate the program’s mission, purpose and procedures accurately to a variety of public audiences.

§ Knowledge of the Homelessness Management Information System

§ If a Waypoint/DHS Non-Law Enforcement Records Check is required, receive a negative report.

§ If required to drive a Waypoint vehicle, must have valid drivers license and be insurable to meet the requirements of Waypoint insurance provider.

§ Be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and lift up to 40 pounds
