Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Research Assistant, Institute of Gerontology at its Detroit campus location.

POSITION PURPOSE: Assist in the day-to-day operations in research project involving older African Americans. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Call and screen participants using study specific inclusion/exclusion criteria. Assist in subject recruitment and subject scheduling. Obtain informed consent and documentation of the consenting process. Perform computerized neuropsychological testing with NIH Toolbox. Entering the data into the RedCap database (Research Electronic Data Capture). Recording scalp EEG (electroencephalogram). Manage Research Participant incentives, i.e., gift cards. Assist in data analysis. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s degree Bachelor of Science Experience:Entry level (less then a year of job related experience. Prior experience working and interacting with research participants in clinical or clinical research setting preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to work in a semi-independent capacity. Proven skills in qualitative data collection (i.e., semi-structured interviews) and familiarity with qualitative methodologies. Ability to work and communicate with study team members, efficiently and responsibly. Ability to work and communicate with study subjects who have physical disabilities. Comfortable speaking about sensitive health issues with study participants. Software proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Highly motivated, organized, and independent person with excellent multi-tasking ability. Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills.
PEERRS/CITI Program certified.(Program for the Education and Evaluation in Responsible Conduct of Research – PEERRS).(Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative – CITI).Prior experience working and interacting with research participants in clinical or clinical research setting preferred.
