Project Manager, Clinical Research Operations

Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Project Manager, Clinical Research Operations at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

  • Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes as well as collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide health promotion and education.
  • This position manages multi-site federally funded projects and studies. 
  • Establish processes that support projects and initiatives including: Create, maintain, and track site-specific progress for project start up as well as project continuation; proactively identifies barriers and develops strategies to overcome; conducts project evaluation, providing recommendations for continuous quality improvement; review and create data integrity checks and completion checks for project.
  • Communicate regularly with project team stakeholders and executive sponsors. Serve as a liaison with
    internal departments and external sites including: schedule and coordinate meetings, conferences,
    minutes and presentations for multiple projects/studies; schedule, coordinate, and conduct training
    sessions regarding project including protocol and procedure training; respond to questions.
  • Provide functional supervision. Participate in recruitment and selection of project personnel. Establish
    work schedules, assign project tasks, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Create and update manual of operations, data collection forms, and websites associated with the
    project/study. Develop a knowledge of study specific procedures related to protocols approved by the
    Institutional Review Board.
  • Oversee funding and payment including: manage and track budget of the grants to assure compliance
    with project guidelines; track invoices from sites to ensure proper invoicing and payment in compliance
    with project budget.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • This position reports to the Director, Clinical Research Operations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of Clinical research experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of good clinical practices for clinical research as defined by the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management and planning skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable change.
  • Ability to conduct multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
  • Able to navigate computer systems and enter data into database.
  • Microsoft Office suite proficient.
  • REDCAP database proficient.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all components of the research process as it pertains to clinical trials and studies including IRB procedures and processes, and data management.

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree preferred. Formal project management certification from Project Management Institute preferred.
