Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Communications Coordinator – Law School at its Detroit campus location.

This position, reporting to theAssociate Director of Marketing and Communication of the Law School works aspart of the strategic planning process for marketing and communications toincrease the visibility and build/strengthen community relations for assignedprogram, school or college. Thisposition is responsible for the production of content for marketing pieces,social media and website content, and for promoting the law school.
Write, edit and produce internal and external content including newsletters, press releases, and other informational pieces that advertise events and activities. Utilize graphic design software, email marketing platforms, and content management systems in creating media and informational pieces. Create tracking spreadsheet for media Stay current on related news and bridge topics with faculty experts to identify opportunities for publicity.
Develop, produce and distribute social media marketing content, working collaboratively with law school faculty, staff and students.
Develop, edit, and manage Law School website content in accordance with Law School and University policies and state and local laws.
Identify creative opportunities to promote program, school or college events, achievements and efforts.
Work collaboratively with dean, director, program manager and/or staff to create and coordinate external community outreach efforts.
Work collaboratively with internal and external subject matter experts to update/create content utilizing print, audio and videos to feature program, school or college.
Prepare varied activity reports, summaries and analyses that aid in program, school or college objectives.
Build and maintain productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Participate in special projects and assignments.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education Bachelor's degree
Bachelor’s degree in Business,Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field from an accreditedcollege or university equivalent or a combinationof education and/or experience.
Experience Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)
A minimum of two years’ experiencein marketing, public relations or communications preferred. Knowledge relatedto program preferred.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Demonstrable knowledge of volunteer andcommunity programs. Excellent communication, marketing, public relations,interpersonal and computer skills. Experiencewith graphic design software and photography. Familiarity with the AssociatedPress Stylebook, computer design/multimedia software. Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel,Word, Outlook, PowerPoint; database and reporting tools. Ability to compare,contrast and quality check work with keen attention to detail. Ability to presentnumerical data orally and in writing or through graphics. Demonstrated strongorganizational, communication and strategic thinking skills. Ability to workindependently and with and through others to achieved desired results.
