Custodian Supervisor/ Manager

Exempt
· Proven leadership and experience in building/grounds custodial management
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record

· Demonstrate safety in all phases of the assignment
· Professional tact: be courteous and helpful with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents, and the community.
: Under the general direction of Superintendent/Treasurer, the coordinator performs those duties which will contribute to the highest level of school, facilities, and grounds maintenance and operations. Supervises and schedules all custodial staff.
· Fundamental knowledge of building operation maintenance and management
· Understanding the current and emerging needs to operate, maintain, and manage buildings such as heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems along with plumbing, electrical, life safety systems and other elements of building systems
· Be responsible for the inspection, care, condition, appearance, repair, or replacement of physical equipment, buildings, facilities, and grounds; works with maintenance personnel to accomplish this function.
· Works with maintenance to ensure successful health department and fire safety inspections
· Assists in the organization and development of training for janitorial personnel as needed
· Provides feedback to staff that do not comply with established standard.
· Secures and assists in hiring of substitutes with the superintendent’s office and ensures training for all substitute custodians
· Constantly promotes good safety practices and procedures. Be constantly aware and on the lookout for conditions that might be a safety hazard or be a threat to the health of the students, employees, or other people who may use the buildings and facilities of the school district.
· Supervises & evaluates custodians. Tours buildings to ensure proper completion of work assignments and to ensure windows/doors locked and lights out.
· Calls substitutes to replace absent workers
· Be proactive in emphasizing a healthy, clean and safe internal building environment
· Recommends materials and supplies needed to the treasurer for purchasing
· Establishes an inventory system/procedure for supplies, materials, and equipment
· Assists in development and operation of janitorial records and reports
· Directs the summer cleaning, painting and related activities
· Directs sidewalk and other surface snow/ice removal during inclement weather
· Operation of a truck, or other vehicle, equipment under inclement weather conditions
· Schedules custodial coverage for weekend and summer events as needed in conjunction with district administration
Other Duties and Responsibilities
· Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
· Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
· Occasional interaction among unruly students
· It is critical to demonstrate regular and predictable attendance
· Serves as a Category I - First Aid Provider per the Board adopted OSHA Policy.
· The employee will be offered the Hepatitis B vaccine at no cost to the employee. The employee may decline the vaccine and sign an OSHA waiver stating that desire.
