Team Lead - Systems Engineer

Purpose/Description

The Team Lead is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining large enterprise-wide systems both in the cloud and on premise. Responsibilities may include design and development of systems and/or enhancements to existing systems. This position performs a full range of system support functions requiring a technical background. Work is a hybrid environment and performed under supervision.


Education and Experience

Educational Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or similar discipline from a recognized college or university. (Experience in a similar position may be considered on a year for year basis)

Experience Requirements

· Minimum 7 years of experience in enterprise system design, development, and implementation projects.

· Minimum 7 years of experience managing and advanced administration of Active Directory

· Minimum 5 years of experience configuring and advanced administration of Microsoft O365 environment and Azure AD

· Minimum 7 years of experience administrating Microsoft Windows Servers including IIS, RDS and Print Servers

· Minimum 7 years of experience managing and advanced administration of Virtual environments.

· Minimum 7 years of experience administrating SAN equipment


Major Duties, Tasks & Knowledge

Required Tasks

· Responsibilities

· Lead a team of experienced System Engineers as part of a larger team responsible for Wayne County departments and elected offices

· Maintain a team by driving, mentoring, focusing and training team members; ensuring a safe and secure work environment; and identifying personal growth opportunities

· Hold weekly team meetings to provide updates and facilitate communication and resource sharing between planners

· Maintain effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies

· Complete projects by coordinating resources and timetables with other teams

· Stay informed of technology trends

· Recommend information technology strategies, policies and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes, identifying problems, evaluating trends and anticipating requirements

· Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, and reviewing professional publications

· Able to work independently and in a team environment

· Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge

· Proven ability to lead a progressive IT group

· Understanding of IT controls and control frameworks

· Broad knowledge of data processing systems, concepts, and methodologies

· Solid client service, time management and leadership skills as well as written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences

· Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and motivate team members

· Operations experience in a production environment

· Analytical and problem-solving skills

· Knowledge of proper computer system data security/backup procedures

· Knowledge of PowerShell scripting

· Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies

· Proven ability to think and work outside the box

· Ability to learn new software systems quickly
