Wayland is an independent, coed college preparatory school for boarding and day students, founded in 1855. The school’s rich, rigorous academic program features exceptionally small classes, capstone projects at every grade, an active STEAM program, and an array of AP offerings. The objective of the Student Success Program (SSP) is to support students academically, socially, and emotionally—above and beyond the scope of offerings within the traditional academic program at Wayland. The Academic Coach assists Wayland students to develop proper study habits, build a conceptual understanding of subject-related content, support teachers to meet learning strategies, and promote the services of the SSP.

Wayland Academy faculty are much more than teachers; they play a crucial role in the students’ lives and their success. As such, faculty at Wayland Academy serve as teacher, coach, mentor, and dorm supervisor.

Wayland Academy expects all members of the academic staff to be fully engaged in the school’s life and mission, in and out of the classroom. To that end, faculty are expected to take meals in the dining hall, participate in Wayland Academy community events and to, in general, be a positive role model for students.

Faculty routinely supervise students in the classroom, dormitories, extracurricular activities, dining hall and other campus community related activities. The Academic Coach routinely supervises students in guided study hall.
