Compensation:

In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Role Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide for an ongoing program of activities designed to meet the interests and psychosocial well-being of all residents placed in the TSC.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and provides a schedule of indoor activities appropriate to the needs of the residents placed in TSC. 
  • Plans, organizes, and instructs recreational activities (swimming, bowling, gym, dance, etc.) with the children on the grounds and in the community.​​​​​​
  • Prepares a monthly calendar of activities written and posted in a prominent location and visible to residents and visitors. This calendar is expected to include at least 3-4 hours per day of activities that are robust, creative, and representative of the interests and cognitive abilities of residents.
  • Ensures monthly decoration of the facility are prominently displayed and incorporates heritage/awareness months and holiday themes.
  • Ensures the accurate and timely completion and submission of activity logs.
  • Maintains a monthly budget documenting expenditures for activities and supplies.
  • Coordinates the activities program with other services in the facility.
  • Facilitates and encourages residents and staff participation in the activities.
  • Facilitates and encourages residents’ completion of thank you cards for donors on a monthly basis.
  • Obtains necessary equipment and supplies and provides for their accessibility. These items should be maintained in a designated area that is kept organized.
  • Helps to maintain a pleasant and cheerful environment in the Cottage.
  • Ensures health safety of residents through monitoring and supervision as a part of program ratio requirements.
  • Assists with the onboard training of Milieu counselors.
  • Maintains Pro-Act trainer certification and conducts ongoing staff training and refreshers.
  • Maintains water safety certification and is present for all water activities.
  • Provides transportation to residents to medical appointments, community outings, meetings, and other locations by driving agency vehicles.
  • Accompanies residents with community-based activities (shopping, recreation, money management, etc.).
  • Promotes the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process by identifying quality indicators and opportunities for departmental and organizational process improvement.
  • Reports any incidents/accidents according to incident reporting procedures and protocols within designated timelines as outlined in the reporting guidelines. Ensure staff is knowledgeable of and adheres to the reporting procedures and protocols.
  •  Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent client information.
  • Implements and follows individualized support plans designed to meet the specific need of the residents.
  • Collaborates to integrate the values of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) into all aspects of the organization.
  • Promotes the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process by identifying quality indicators and opportunities for departmental and organizational process improvement.
  • Reports any incidents/accidents according to incident reporting procedures and protocols within designated timelines as outlined in the reporting guidelines. Ensures staff is knowledgeable of and adheres to the reporting procedures and protocols.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent client information.
  • Performs other duties as may become necessary or as directed.

Qualifications


Education/Certifications:

  • High school diploma, bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience:

  • At least two years of experience in a social or recreational program serving children and adolescents
