Through our in-home and center-based programming, we help parents create a healthy home and become their children’s first and most important teachers.

Job Summary

The Assistant Teacher will support the Lead Preschool Teacher and Teacher’s by reinforcing the academics taught in the classroom. The Assistant Teacher will assist in the overall functioning of the classroom, some instruction, planning, and ensuring that students’ needs are met. The Assistant Teacher will be an active participant in the daily operations of the preschool classroom.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists with creating curriculum and lessons plans.
  • Assists with delivering whole group and small group instruction of students
  • May supervise children independently during arrival and dismissal up to 25% of the school day.
  • Assists the Bus Driver in maintaining the order of the bus concerning safety.
  • Assists children (if needed) with backpacks, coats, boots, etc. upon arrival.
  • Assists the teachers in independent book time by reading with students.
  • Assists the teachers by reinforcing the learning during instruction times.
  • Assists in running a small group each day (activity will be created with the teacher, co-planning groups is required).
  • Assists the teachers by being a participant at playtime with the students.
  • Assists children in washing hands and preparing/delivering snacks.
  • Assists children in following safety measures when going upstairs or outside for gross motor play.
  • Assists the teachers in reinforcing the learning during story time.
  • Assists the teachers to help the students prepare to leave and load the bus at the end of the day.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in both oral and written forms of the English language.
  • Planning, project management, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Dependable and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to use and teach planning, goal-setting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with diverse populations and culturally competent.
  • Ability to work in groups and team settings and adaptable.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Professional in all activities that represent WTG.
  • Exercise discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive information.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • CDA or Equivalent Experience working with Preschool-Aged Students.
