Description

Wave seeks a highly motivated scientist to join its analytical group in Lexington, MA. This is an ideal position for an individual who is interested in learning cutting edge technologies including first-in-class RNA editing therapeutic platform under collaboration with GSK and who thrives in a team-oriented, fast-paced, and cross-disciplinary biotech environment. The senior scientist I will be responsible for leading, designing, executing, and analyzing experiments as a member of a team focused on providing analytical support to advance therapeutic programs. This candidate will contribute to analytical method development, method transfer, verification, validation, lifecycle management of analytical test methods to support on-site GMP manufacturing, stability testing and clinical programs.

Experience

  • Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or related discipline with 3-8 years of industry experience; BS/MS in chemistry, biochemistry or related discipline with 5-10 years of industry experience
  • Experienced in developing analytical methods using chromatography (reversed phase, normal phase, ion exchange, etc.), LCMS, NMR and related analytical techniques
  • Full computer literacy and knowledge of basic scientific principles and practices
  • Familiarity with GxP analytical development environment
  • Prior experience in oligonucleotide method development/qualification is highly preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support development, troubleshooting, improvement, and life-cycle management of analytical methods
  • Execute and support method qualification and validation
  • Write, review and approve GMP documentation (SOPs, protocols, technical reports, specifications, etc.)
  • Identify, evaluate, and procure analytical equipment and reagents
  • Analyze research and production samples to support method or process development
  • Summarize/present analytical findings at team or cross functional department meetings and use scientific literature to solve advanced technical problems
  • Review data generated by other analysts
  • Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary team of scientists
  • Independently applies scientific knowledge (both theoretical and practical) for the resolution of analytical chemistry problems
  • May involve mentoring and training colleagues in quality control or other departments
  • Participate in project management activities including: creating and meeting objectives for timelines, budgets, and project goals
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new analytical techniques and solve complex problems
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and perform investigations
  • Accurately and thoroughly document procedures and results using laboratory notebooks, protocols and reports and databases
  • Follow all applicable company SOPs, work instructions and guidelines
  • Performs routine testing when required

Key Skills

  • Instrument skills including FTIR, UV-Vis, HPLC/UPLC, LC/MS, NMR, GC, etc.
  • Familiar with common chromatography/Spectroscopy acquisition/processing software
  • Effective communication; proficiency in good documentation practices, data analysis and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently multitask, prioritize critical tasks
  • Flexibility in adapting to different projects
  • Strong team player, working with cross-functional teams in a fast paced setting
  • Ability to make scientifically sound decisions
