Description
The Special Education Assistant will assist the Special Education Teacher in meeting the diversified needs of students with various disabilities. As a part of this assignment, you will be required to assist in classroom modifications, communicate effectively with regular and special education staff, provide structure and feedback, and work with other students as assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required at the time of hire or for the continuation of employment.
• Have a positive, enthusiastic attitude and a willingness to meet the needs of all children.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality relating to students and families.
• Additional duties as assigned.
• Substitutes will work on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
O070 - Special Education Program Aide License - must possess or have requirements to apply for DPI License - License will be applied for during new hire process and reimbursed, if not already licensed. . Experience in the education field helpful. . Experience in working with children with special needs preferred. . Red Cross training and/or CPR/AED training preferred, but not required.
