We Are Hiring : Health Unit Coordinator - Emergency Dept Waukesha - .9 FTE (PMs)
The Emergency Department is a fast pace, high acuity ED with 35 patient rooms. We are a Stroke Center, Chest Pain Accredited, and a Level 3 Trauma Center.
The unit sees 40,000 plus patients annually (birth to end of life). In addition to providing emergency services to patients of all ages the department supports victims of sexual abuse with specially trained sexual assault nurse examiners (SANE).
The ED has about 80 staff members Nurses, Techs, and HUCs.
The Health Unit Coordinator provides customer service and clerical support to Physicians, members of the health care team, patients, and families.
Enters charge data and supports department operations.
What You Will Do :
Performs charge entry on patient accounts to ensure charges are accurate and ethical.
Uses HUC and Clerical Staff tools and resources provided by ProHealth Care to determine chargeable items.
Reconciles the prior day's activity daily to ensure charge entry accuracy.
collecting admission, discharge, and transfer (ADT) forms Important Message from Medicare, Consent to Admit, Patient Rights and Responsibilities form, patient location and status) and updates the electronic medical record.
Facilitates department operations by dispatching health care team resources.
Answer, prioritize, and direct phone calls including paging and logging health care team responses.
