CUSTODIAN – Part-Time

JOB LOCATION: Lincoln Elementary School

HOURS: 11:00 am – 4:30 pm

DAYS: Monday – Friday

START DATE: As soon as possible

PAY RATE: $20.36 per hour (Category G, Level 1)

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must:

· Be drug-free;

· Be able to repetitively lift 50 – 75 lbs. on a daily basis;

· Have consistent attendance in previous employment;

· Be able to accept direction and work independently;

· Be on time and have a history of being a diligent worker;

· Possess personal pride in maintaining the school in a safe and attractive manner!

JOB DESCRIPTION: Part-time custodians perform a wide variety of duties including but not limited to:

1. Cleaning classrooms daily in assigned areas and dusting classroom furniture;

2. Cleaning all corridors during his/her daily shift;

3. Disinfecting toilet floors; cleaning all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily;

4. Washing of all windows on both the inside and outside as needed;

5. Keep all floors, building, and exterior in a clean, safe, and attractive condition:

6. Provide excellent customer service by responding to requests from Building Administration Staff and other building users;

7. Cleaning dry erase boards as needed;

8. Making minor building repairs as he/she is capable of in his/her areas. Completion of maintenance requests for repairs he/she is unable to accomplish. Report major repairs promptly to the Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds;

9. Immediately report any damage to school property to the School Principal and/or Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds;

10. Remain on the school premises during assigned hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and custodial attendance is assigned by the School Principal or Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds;

11. Assume responsibility for securing his/her assigned area each day and for determining, before leaving, if doors and windows need to be secured and if lights, except those left on for safety reasons, need to be turned off;

12. Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the School Principal or Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds;

13. Comply with laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste;

14. Comply with all district safety practices and proper use of cleaning chemicals and related equipment;

15. Check daily to insure that all exit doors in building are open as required and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy;

16. Conduct an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair in his/her area;

17. Set up and tear down for building use events;

18. Perform snow removal operations such as shoveling entrances and salting sidewalks as appropriate;

19. Perform any miscellaneous tasks assigned by the School Principal or the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds whether verbal or written.

20. Cleaning of blood borne pathogens.

Part-time custodians must work as a team with other custodial staff to provide great customer service and help create the best learning environment possible. This work will require working independently to accomplish the goals of the team. Daily attendance, being on time, and being a diligent worker are required. Personal pride in maintaining the Lincoln Elementary School in a safe and attractive manner is a must!
