Description

Starr Regional Medical Center is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Nurse Tech for our Women's Services Department. This job is permanent, full-time.

Core competencies include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
  • Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
  • Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  • Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.
  • Provides appropriate and accurate specimen collections and care of patients based on individual needs.
  • Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
  • Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.
  • Meets with patient or patient's caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.
  • Communicates with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement.
  • Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience Preferred X Required
Required Licenses
[Tennessee, United States] Nursing Assistant
Certified Nurse Aide Licensure in State of TN
X Preferred Required
Required Skills
Completion of a licensed nursing assistant program
X Preferred Required
Certifications:
The below certifications will be required within 60 days of hire:
X Basic Life Support (BLS)
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
