Description

Lifepoint Health has an opportunity for a Consulting Network Security Engineer- Remote. Responsible for interfacing directly with end-users and vendors to assess, recommend, design, and implement network security solutions and technologies. Manages the development and maintenance of network security design standards. Evaluates and recommends new technologies as they relate to the businesses network security strategy. Reviews proposed changes and risks to the security environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Knowledge of physical and cloud security infrastructure and protocols. Supports department staff in configuring and maintaining firewalls, load-balancers, VPN, NAC, SASE and other security devices/services.
  • Knowledge of network routing and switching technologies and routing protocols. Supports department staff in configuring and maintaining routers, switches, CSU/DSUs, Wi-Fi and other network devices.
  • Leads network security planning, design, and engineering for the department. Integrates and schematically depicts security network architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission, signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations.
  • Reviews proposed firewall policy and VPN changes against company standard and industry best-practices. Works in accordance to rigorous change control processes to ensure only authorized changes are made to the network security infrastructure in order to protect the business.
  • Builds, extends, and maintains, security monitoring platforms, responsive and relevant to the business and technical needs of the enterprise.
  • Performs periodic firewall reviews, evaluates against company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best-practices. Recommends remediation strategies and maintains issues within integrated risk management systems.
  • Capability to manage risk and ensure disaster recovery in case of a security event. Participates as a part of a larger team to control, remediate and recover in the case of a security event.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with user community and vendors in order to understand business needs and requirements related to the design/integration of new network security technologies.
  • Collaborates with product/process management, clinical business leaders, and other departments on security-related items and any other duties as assigned by the enterprise.
  • Performs, evaluates, documents, and communicates technology evaluations and installations. Oversees evaluations and installations performed by team members.
  • Supports department staff in the analysis, solution, and documentation of network security issues and problems. Analyzes and resolves errors escalated by less experienced team members.
  • Works with management to develop, communicate, implement, and maintain network security design policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Serves as Network Security Engineering subject-matter expert on multifunctional project teams within IS and across lines of business as required to support business requirements. Supervises Network Security Engineers and vendors activities throughout lifecycle of the project.
  • Collaborates with less experienced team members regarding departmental procedures, policies, and standards that pertain to the Network Security Engineering department.
  • Solicits feedback and guidance of department best practices from management/leadership.
  • Continually enhances knowledge of Security Network Engineering and company standards in order to achieve departmental success and professional growth.

QualificationsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Experience with at least two of the following vendor firewall/security equipment: Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Cisco, and Fortinet.
  • Experience with multiple vendor micro segmentation and cloud security technologies: NSX, GCP, Azure desirable.
  • Experience with at least two firewall management and monitoring platforms: Panorama, CMA, FireMon.
  • Experience with multiple vendor networking equipment: Cisco, Aruba, Arista and Fortinet desirable.
  • Established successful application and capabilities utilizing advanced technical tools related network security engineering including:

oCisco IOS configuration

oTopologies (i.e., Ethernet, Wireless 802.11 A, B, G, N802.16 D & E)

oProtocols (i.e., TCP/IP)

oNetwork Management architecture and configuration within management platforms such as Solarwinds and LogicMontor.

oRouting;RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP and Static Routes

oTelco (i.e., T1/Private Line, Frame Relay, MPLS, ISDN (BRI/PRI), Broadband)

  • Leads infrastructure projects, as a subject matter expert, ensuring that projects are clearly defined, systematically executed, and results oriented. Adherence to Project Management best practices, processes, and standards within the organization are required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately via email, collaboration tools (MS Teams), telephone and in person to varying levels within the organization, vendors, and clients.
  • Ability to perform technical consulting and problem-solving within a complex enterprise.
  • Established skills to coach and mentor less experienced team members. Current working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system software and the implementation/management of workstations within a very large enterprise environment.
  • Capable of working independently and delivering appropriate and timely feedback to Senior team members and management as required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365, Visio, ServiceNow.
  • Remote environment adequate to support daily technical and professional activities.

Travel: 10% or less

Qualifications:

Education: A network engineering degree, telecom engineer degree, or BS/BE degree in computer science, cybersecurity or related IT fields, or equivalent experience.

Licenses/Certification: One or more required, with preference given toward technical certifications: CISSP, CCNP, CCIE, CCSA, PCNSE, PCCSE, FCNSP, GCSE, GCNE, ANEA, ANSA, SSCP, CEH, OSCP, CCSE

Experience: Minimum of 10 years experience as a Network Security Engineer in a large-scale inter-network environment with proven complex network design experience.
