Job Description

We are looking for a dental hygiene assistant to bring onto our team. A valued dental hygiene assisting team member is instrumental in helping our office maintain a high level of efficiency and productivity in order to fulfill our vision of providing the very best for our patients. The professional business team member we're seeking must be well-organized, demonstrate considerable attention to detail, while being skilled in providing direct or indirect patient care.

Duties include:

  • Preparing the operatory for procedures
  • Greeting patients; helping them feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment; escorting them to the operatory
  • Gathering patient information and health background
  • Taking dental radiographs (x-rays) and intraoral photographs
  • Assisting the hygienist during examinations and dental procedures
  • Educating patients on good oral hygiene habits
  • Assisting the scheduling of subsequent patient appointments
  • Sterilization of instruments
  • Restocking treatment areas and monitoring inventory
  • Performing office management tasks that often require the use of a computer

Dental Hygiene Assistant Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Must possess a "growth mindset" and true willingness to learn; must be able to demonstrate an above average work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to function as a team player
  • Dental assistant certificate from an accredited vocational school (preferred)
  • 1 years of dental assisting experience (preferred)
  • X-ray certification a plus
  • Current BLS and CPR certification
  • Knowledge of aseptic and sterilization techniques a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficient computer skills; Experience with Eaglesoft (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Well-organized and extremely reliable
  • High school diploma (or GED)
  • Additional certification or training is an asset (e.g. EFDA)
