WaterOne is Hiring an Industrial Cleaning Technician Near Kansas, KS

The purpose of this position is to help maintain cleanliness and appearance of non-occupied building spaces operated and maintained by the Production Division including, but not limited to, chemical feed rooms, residuals control buildings, pump rooms, filter galleries, and pipe galleries. The Industrial Cleaning Technician assists with cleaning basins and reservoirs as needed. The Industrial cleaning Technician follows the general operating procedures of a water treatment facility including Chemical feed systems, chemical inventory and receipt, and membrane filter maintenance.
  • The schedule for this position is Tuesday-Friday 630am-500pm (Four 10hr shifts)
WaterOne provides competitive benefits and compensation ranges. Selected candidates are placed in the position’s pay range based on their qualifications.
Pay Range starts from $18.56/hr and up.

  • Perform daily cleaning of chemical feed rooms, pump rooms, filter galleries, hallways, and stairwells. Tasks include, but are not limited to, vacuuming; wiping dirt from walls, equipment, and piping; removing lime scale from surfaces; cleaning up minor spills of water treatment chemicals; cleaning of light fixtures, ceilings, and windows; cleaning, waxing, sealing, and buffing floors; and cleaning chemical feeder equipment and fixtures.
  • Assist other members of the Support Shift team in cleaning basins, reservoirs, and other water treatment structures as assigned.
  • Clean other unoccupied spaces as necessary.
  • Note and report to supervisor in a timely manner any equipment, operations, or maintenance problems that appear to be creating excessive need for industrial cleaning.
  • Perform all duties pertaining to hazardous waste operations in accordance with all applicable requirements.
  • Support Service Functions
    • Inventory, order, and receive treatment chemicals.
    • Maintain and clean basins, configure valving for operations.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot Wolcott membrane racks.
    • Work with Engineering on various projects, including meter testing and isolating equipment for contractors.
    • Configure all plant valving, including valve exercise program.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
Required Education, Skills & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience working in an industrial environment.
  • Must have experience with or ability to learn how to properly use a variety of industrial cleaning equipment, chemicals, and techniques. These include, but are not limited to, high pressure hoses, power washers, industrial vacuums, floor scrubbers, submersible pumps, wire brushes, scrapers, and a variety of cleaning chemicals.
  • Experience with or have the ability to learn and apply all applicable requirements pertaining to hazardous waste operations.
  • Ability to follow oral and written work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical and operating manuals for industrial cleaning equipment and processes.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and continuously meet WaterOne driving standards.
  • Follow all applicable safety requirements including, but not limited to, use of hazardous materials, use of energized equipment, personal protective equipment, and use of ladders and working on elevated platforms.
  • Must pass post offer medical exam, including drug screen and background verification (may not apply to current employees).
  • Mechanical operating abilities & basic plumbing skills.
Preferred Education, Skills & Experience
  • Experience in industrial cleaning work.
  • Class I Operations License
  • Water Treatment Principles and Practices – Knowledge of and the ability to explain water distribution and treatment systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

The employee must be able to distinguish colors. The employee must be able to climb ladders and work on elevated platforms or working surfaces. The employee must meet qualifications for using air purifying respiratory protection.
