Summary: The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance and equipment repairs in the field and at the company shop. This position may travel to job sites to make electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs on equipment such as boats, barges, cranes, excavators, loaders, trenchers, forklifts, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following is a list of general job responsibilities for the Mechanic position. This list is not all-inclusive and may be broadened or changed to meet changing business needs.

• Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoot issues with engines.
• Determine what parts and tools are necessary to make repairs.
• Complete the repairs necessary.
• Complete shop paperwork.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Open the shop yard and equipment checklist for daily operations.
• Help keep equipment, tools, and the shop yard clean. (daily)

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Post-secondary certificate or degree in mechanics OR training as a mechanic (a plus)
• 2 to 5 years of experience with diesel/heavy equipment repair
• Welding experience (a plus)
• Manual dexterity and overall excellent physical condition.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record

Skills/Abilities:

• Reliable and punctual
• Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be comfortable working around water.
• Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
