ROGUE WASTE SYSTEMS, LLC

  • Title: Diesel Mechanic Intern
  • Division/Department: Rogue Waste Systems - Shop
  • Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
  • Location: 8001 Table Rock Rd., White City, OR and 6260 Dry Creek Rd, Eagle Point, OR
  • Employee status: Union/non-exempt
  • Work schedule: Formal work week is from Sunday through Saturday.
  • Shift: TBD
  • Duration: 100 worked hours split between Dry Creek Landfill and Rogue Transfer and Recycling
  • Wages: $20.00/HR
  • Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits (see Company benefit plan descriptions)
  • Drug and alcohol testing: Subject to pre-employment drug and random selection alcohol and drug testing.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Under the general supervision of the maintenance supervisor, the Diesel Mechanic Intern is responsible for timely, effective and safe maintenance and repair of all equipment owned by Rogue Waste Systems, Inc., and the completion of required paperwork associated with that maintenance.

  • Routine and Preventative Maintenance on Company Owned Equipment

Complete scheduled maintenance and trouble shooting including engine tune-ups, DCA, magna flux, wheel packing, oil changes, lubrication, etc.

Maintain records of routine maintenance performed, defects and trouble spots identified, and repairs completed.

  • Requested Repair and Maintenance

Review inspection reports to identify requested service or repair, complete repairs and service per request.

Complete and turn into the office a daily report identifying the vehicle, repairs made, time for service, and parts used.

  • Road calls

Respond to driver's request for road service

Make repairs as feasible at breakdown site

Call for towing assistance if on-site repairs are not feasible

Complete all required paperwork related to the road service

Deliver and or pick up truck in need of repairs

  • Participate in and support training and initiatives to improve service quality, safety, customer and employee relations, and operational efficiency and effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Knowledge and practical mechanical skills to work with all aspects of the equipment used in the operations of Rogue Disposal & Recycling, Rogue Waste Systems, Rogue Materials and Recovery. Including diesel and gas engines, transmissions, rear ends, suspensions, hydraulic systems and pumps, and electrical systems.
  • Skills and ability at diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic problems.
  • Physical mobility to routinely move under trucks, bend, lift, climb, squat, kneel, reach and get into tight working areas.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform repairs and routine maintenance safely, efficiently and effectively to power, mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems of vehicles and equipment.
  • Knowledge and skill in fabrication and the safe, efficient and effective use of tools used in fabrication, including both mig and arc welding, cutting torches, plasma arcs, hydraulic jacks, overhead hoists, hydraulic presses, porta-power, and pressure washers.
  • Skill and experience in the safe, efficient, and effective use of both air powered and electric powered hand tools including grinders, sanders, cut-off saws, drills, wrenches, and impact guns.
  • Skill and experience to operate fork-lift equipment safely, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Familiarity and skill in the effective use of handheld computer testing equipment.
  • Able to physically lift and move heavy objects, up to 50lbs routinely.
  • Punctual and reliable in work attendance and job performance.
  • Ability to work independent of direct supervision and to respond with flexibility to potentially changing service demands.
  • Reading, writing, and verbal skills required to read and understand manuals and work instructions, respond to written and oral instructions, and to provide written documentation and to exchange information.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy of records and reports.
  • Verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with predominantly English-speaking equipment operators to gather and give information and to address frustrations and potential conflicts effectively.
  • Skills of basic mathematics to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
  • Valid drivers license.
