JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of a higher classified employee, performs a variety of events assistance. Tasks most commonly will be related to recycling, composting, landfill diversion, and roadside dumping prevention. These tasks require physical strength and effort with relatively low level of complexity and responsibility. Events worked will primarily unloading home toxics collections on Saturdays, and assistance at county cleanup days on Saturdays. . Performs other duties as assigned. No more than six (6) hours will be offered per week. Approximately 20-30 hours per month.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

- Arrive on time to events located at various locations across Washtenaw County.

- Safely and courteously unload home toxics from vehicles, place on a cart and wheel them to a trained professional for sorting.

- Tire and electronics unloading and loading, traffic control, and check in assistance.

- Set up, take down, and cleanup of events.

- Conducting surveys, administering question and answers at events.

- Other duties as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able occasionally lift up to 50lbs. These requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodations.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to and from the work site.

EDUCATION

Possession of a High School diploma or its equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

This is an entry-level position; experience is not required

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be available to work on Saturdays. Most event work is on Saturday mornings from 8:40-12:10. Enjoy interacting with the general public and possess strong communication skills and public service philosophy. Must be 18 years of age or older at time of application.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
