Under general supervision, performs a broad range of difficult and complex professional casework duties for the Washoe County Human Services Agency; and performs related work as required.
 
Intermittent Hourly positions are not Benefited positions.

About the current vacancy
The Facilitated Meeting Team coordinates and facilitates an array of case related meetings within the Children’s Services Division of the Washoe County Human Services Agency. These meetings provide a beneficial and critical opportunity where case related issues and activities can be addressed within a team format. Examples of facilitated meeting include: 
  • Child and Family Team (CFT)
  • Adoption Transition
  • Independent Living Case Plan
  • Family Solutions Team
  • Safe Babies Court
  • Other case specific meetings as requested.
Facilitated meetings which are often multidisciplinary, include such participants as the youth, caregiver, biological parents, legal counsel, placement resource, caseworkers, supervisors, and mental health personnel, among other case stakeholders. The overarching goal of each meeting is to provide a collaborative discussion regarding case status, updates, barriers, activities, and provide detailed “next steps” which are requested to be completed by the family and team members following the meeting.
 
Meeting Facilitators should possess the following skills and abilities:
 
  • Ability to coordinate and schedule meetings involving a large number of participants.
  • Ability to remain focused on the goal of the meeting while allowing participants to be heard.
  • Ability to “multitask “during the meeting.
  • Ability to review confidentiality expectations with participants.
  • Familiarity with Child Welfare practices.
  • Ability to de-escalate participants with heightened emotions and redirect conversation as necessary.
  • Ability to conduct virtual, hybrid, and in-person meetings as required.
  • Familiarity with video conferencing such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
  • Demonstration of good organizational skills.
  • Demonstration of good documentation skills using a facilitated meeting format.
  • Ability to gather information from multiple sources in preparation for the meetings.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, or a closely related field AND two years of professional level experience providing casework/ counseling or placement services, or working with individuals or families in a community-based, case management role; OR license to practice Social Work in the State of Nevada or eligibility for licensure in the State of Nevada AND two years of full-time experience performing professional social work. A master’s degree in social work may substitute for one year of experience.
 
License or Certificate 
 
  • A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment. 

Background checks will be conducted on selected applicants through the State of Nevada and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
 
Per the Washoe County Background and Reference Checks Policy, new and rehired employees are required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation. Effective July 1, 2019, the $40.25 fee associated with this background investigation will be paid by the employee (if applicable) and deducted automatically from the first paycheck. Employment is contingent upon the results of the background check, although a record of conviction will not necessarily bar an applicant from employment.
 
Washoe County requires its employees to reside in the state of Nevada or neighboring California communities such as Truckee, South Lake Tahoe or Susanville as of their first day of work.
 
Washoe County hires all new employees at the minimum rate of the salary range and eligible employees may receive an annual merit increase of 5% until they reach the maximum salary for the classification. Upon promotion, current Washoe County employees are placed at the minimum rate of the salary range for the higher classification of the new position OR a promotional calculation, whichever is greater. 
 
This is not a classified position and is not covered by a collective bargaining unit.
 
Intermittent hourly employees are exempt employees. “Intermittent hourly employee” means a person who is not employed on a fixed schedule and works on an “on-call” basis. Please be advised that upon appointment an Intermittent Hourly employee cannot work a regularly scheduled work schedule and must work less than 1040 hours in any fiscal year. Intermittent Hourly employees are “at will” employees and serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.
 
Retired PERS (Public Employees’ Retirement System of Nevada) employees are responsible for contacting PERS to make sure that they do not go over the assigned PERS earnings limit for a fiscal year in order to retain retirement benefits.
