Washoe County is Hiring a DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS Near Reno, NV

Under administrative direction, provides leadership and delivery of Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH) programs, services, and project initiatives that are cross-functional in nature and implemented using resources from multiple divisions; participates as a key advisor to the District Health Officer as a member of the leadership team; and performs related work as required.
 
This is an Open Competitive/Countywide Promotional recruitment being conducted to fill a current full-time vacancy in Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH). The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.

A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment.
Ideal Candidate
NNPH is looking for someone with the skills necessary to lead, facilitate and project manage multiple complex initiatives. Given the nature of the role, the ideal candidate should have a commitment to partnership, collaboration, and relationship building. Leadership skills are paramount, particularly leadership skills that build success among teams that often do not have a direct reporting relationship. The successful candidate must value diversity, equity, and inclusion and be committed to developing and growing both personal and organizational cultural competency. The Director of Programs and Projects should be able to work at an organizational and systems level and should have the ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally to the public. The individual in this position serves as an advisor to District leadership and must set an example by demonstrating a personal commitment to best practices for professional development, performance management, and quality improvement. NNPH seeks an individual with a passion for public health, organizational effectiveness, and health equity.The Director of Programs and Projects is a Confidential position and is therefore not covered by a bargaining unit.
Background checks will be conducted on selected applicants through the State of Nevada and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
 
Per the Washoe County Background and Reference Checks Policy, new and rehired employees are required to submit to a fingerprint based background investigation. Effective July 1, 2019, the $40.25 fee associated with this background investigation will be paid by the employee (if applicable) and deducted automatically from the first paycheck. Employment is contingent upon the results of the background check, although a record of conviction will not necessarily bar an applicant from employment.

Selected candidates may be required to meet the Northern Nevada Public Health immunization requirements and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination received after September 1, 2022, at the time of appointment. All NNPH positions do require selected candidates to have the 2-step TB Skin Test at time of appointment.

Washoe County requires its employees to reside in the state of Nevada or neighboring California communities such as Truckee, South Lake Tahoe or Susanville as of their first day of work.Washoe County hires all new employees at the minimum rate of the salary range and eligible employees may receive an annual merit increase of 5% until they reach the maximum salary for the classification. Upon promotion, current Washoe County employees are placed at the minimum rate of the salary range for the higher classification of the new position OR a promotional calculation, whichever is greater.TO BE CONSIDERED:
