*Seeking a School Custodial Supervisor for evenings. Must be able to take a background and drug test.

**We are looking to fill two evening slots at Kipp Central City Academy, three slots at Booker T. Washington, and one slot at Primary.**

OVERVIEW:

A custodial supervisor oversees an organization's custodial team. They develop plans and strategies to maintain the cleanliness of buildings and facilities, supervise the performance of custodial staff, delegate responsibilities, set goals and objectives, and solve issues and concerns when any arise.

GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Custodial Supervisor performs responsible supervisory work involving the assignment and direct supervision of custodial employees in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of buildings, offices, classrooms, fitness centers, laboratories, furnishings, and equipment as well as building entrances and exterior walkways. The Custodial Supervisor is also responsible for training new employees in proper custodial procedures for the use of manually operated tools, electrically-powered machines, cleaning compounds, solvents, and chemicals.

The five key supervisory roles include Educator, Sponsor, Coach, Counselor, and Director.

OVERALL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicating with the school operations team to maintain a good relationship
  • Overseeing custodian staff and managing schedules and time-off requests
  • Evaluating staff performances on a weekly basis
  • Conducting monthly inspections with school operations personnel/leadership
  • Completing performance evaluations and inspection forms
  • Running necessary or emergency errands to janitorial supply vendors, general stores for cleaning supplies, and WBS office
  • Conducting training sessions and enforcing policy
  • Reviewing contract duties and making sure we are abiding
  • Onboarding new employees
  • Adjusting schedules or filling in when an employee is unable to come in
  • Working with Office Manager on scheduling, training, and forms
  • Scheduling important projects such as deep cleaning, and floor work
  • Following school schedules, game days etc..
  • Communicating with vendors and subcontractors

SUMMER DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help leadership develop all cleaning procedures and workflow
  • Conduct summer training for staff
  • Oversee deep cleaning and floor work
  • Work at job site Hertz Tuesday/Thursday nights

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education : A high school diploma or the equivalent is required.
  • Experience : At least 1 year of experience in custodial services, two of which must have been supervisory, which includes knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment, and supplies, is required. Four years of custodial supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Skills: Supervisory skills; management skills, such as planning and organizing; strong oral and written communication skills; and the abilities to train new employees are required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
  • Effort: Requires the ability to inspect the cleanliness of facilities and areas that may only be accessible by climbing ladders or stairs, bending, reaching on top of partitions, cabinets, bookcases, and ledges, and moving furniture, supplies, or equipment. Must be able to move throughout assigned areas, as work is performed indoors and out-of-doors. Requires the ability to lift and carry custodial supplies and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis. Requires a full range of physical motion in order to operate manual and electrically-powered cleaning equipment and machines. Employees in this job classification are designated as essential employees and must report to work as scheduled.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year of experience in custodial, housekeeping, or food service work
  • High School Diploma or general education degree(GED) is required
  • Minimum of four (4) years of cleaning or janitorial work with a least three (1) years of supervisory experience, preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA or APPA Level 1 requirements
  • The ability to work around students, faculty, staff, and parent volunteers, required
  • The ability to work with minimal direct supervision is needed
  • The ability to take direction is required
  • Practical knowledge and experience using various cleaning tools, electrical floor care equipment, and cleaning products are required
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
