WASHINGTON JEFFERSON COLLEGE is Hiring an Instruction and Student Success Librarian Near Washington, PA

SummaryThe Instruction and Student Engagement Librarian will provide leadership and management of the development of innovative and responsive user-focused services that support student learning, success and retention through collaboration with colleagues within the library and across the college. These services include reference and information services, information literacy instruction, and outreach programs to support student, staff, and faculty excellence in teaching, learning, and research.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Creates, defines, and leads an innovative information literacy program to support and enhance the College's learning outcomes.
  • Manages the library's instruction and reference services.
  • Ensures quality and consistency of online resources that support information literacy, including research guides.
  • Assesses and evaluates information literacy and reference services and resources.
  • Plans and implements relationships and activities that promote library collections and services and contribute to the intellectual climate on campus.
  • Cultivates relationships and serves as liaison to other departments and committees on campus to create and participate in initiatives that support student recruitment, academic preparedness, and retention.
  • Participates in the data analysis of internal and external statistical reports to improve and document work outcomes and project management.
  • Serves as a liaison to academic departments and assesses and develops the collection in those areas.
  • Provides reference assistance during assigned days, evening and weekend hours.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • ALA-accredited master's degree in library or information science to be awarded by June 2022
  • Demonstrated understanding of the concepts, goals and methods of information literacy instruction.
  • Experience in teaching, preference given to teaching undergraduate students.
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively in a demanding environment
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated understanding of trends and issues in enrollment, support, and retention of college students.
  • Experience with outreach and marketing services to students, especially experience with social media marketing
  • Familiarity with a liberal arts environment
  • Interest and participation in relevant professional organizations
