Job Summary Position: Mental Health Specialist, GS-14 Division: Criminal Investigative Division Unit: Safeguard Unit Location: Washington, DC Working Hours: 8:00 a.m- 4:30 p.m Salary: GS-14 $139,395.00 - $181,216.00 Full Performance Level: GS-14 Number of Positions Available: 1 Duration: Full Time/Permanent Additional selections may be made from this announcement to fill positions within the same division when the position includes substantially the same duties, responsibilities, and qualifications. Key Requirements * Must be a U.S. citizen * Must be able to obtain a Top Secret-SCI clearance ALL applicants must verify completion of the basic education requirement by submitting a copy of college transcripts by the closing date of the vacancy announcement. Mission Statement: The mission of the FBI is to protect the American People and uphold the Constitution of the United States. Major Duties: * Oversees the administration, management, and direction of the unit's psychological components in one of three regions (Northeast, Southeast, Western). * Conducts mental health assessments of employees in consideration for placement in covert assignments. * Develops and manages assigned nationwide psychological/operational programs that support the overall mission of the Bureau.
* Develops and delivers training requested by Bureau undercover components, interagency partners, and external agencies.. * Provides educational programs that teach and relate information about the safeguarding of employees engaged in high risk assignments and investigations. * Assists local law enforcement agencies in the development and implementation of their respective in-house undercover selection, Safeguard mental health assessments and program policies. Basic Requirements Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. or Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. or Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements provided you can show foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. Specialized Experience (SE): GS-14: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level. SE is defined as follows: * Knowledge in interviewing, psychological test interpretation, mental health assessment and management, consultation, and referral.
* Conducts interviews and make appropriate determinations; communicate recommendations to managers and decision makers; and provide advice and counsel to interested parties within and outside the Bureau.
* Conduct individual mental health assessments and accurately, identify maladaptive behaviors, syndromes and develop and implement recommendations. * Plan, organize, and direct program work with a team concept to manage a regional program; to develop short and long term goals; and assess future needs.
