REPORTS TO: Principal
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The high school CTE teacher will plan, prepare, implement and evaluate quality competency-based instruction that leads to the development of student employability skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Valid North Carolina CTE teaching license or ability to obtain one in one of the following 16 career clusters:
Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources, Architecture & Construction, Arts, A/V Technology & Communications, Business Management & Administration, Education & Training, Finance, Government & Public Administration, Health Science, Hospitality & Tourism, Human Services, Information Technology,Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security,Manufacturing,Marketing, Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics, or Transportation, Distribution & Logistic
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Flexible and adapts easily to change
High interest in project based and problem based learning
High interest in working in small learning communities and professional learning communities
Strong desire to grow professionally through staff development
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Coordinates with the Director of Career & Technical Education to meet state guidelines and to provide a consistent program for the District.
Displays effective teaching practices in an effort to ensure optimum student learning in the classroom and work environment.
Completes effective lesson plans with immediate and long range goals using project based and problem based learning experiences.
Uses time effectively.
Chooses appropriate materials and activities.
Monitors and assesses student performance in the classroom
Participates in approved staff development programs.
Cooperates with school and business personnel in providing students with real world experiences
Supervises behavior and safety of students in classes, between classes and in the work environment.
Instructs students in school and workplace safety
Participates in special activities and programs provided for students, parents and business partners.
Collaborate with business and community partners to organize work based learning opportunities for students
Participates in and supports the appropriate leadership club activities.
Initiates communication with parents
Inform parents of students’ progress.
Makes parents aware if problems arise.
Administers an appropriate record keeping system.
Maintains accurate records for student evaluation and progress.
Maintains accurate attendance records as required by building, District and state regulations.
Maintains accurate records for all materials provided by the District.
Maintains records of parent contacts, conferences, disciplinary measures and referrals to other school personnel.
Meets required record keeping format and timelines effectively.
Exemplifies professionalism in behavior and performance.
Cooperates with staff and administrators, sharing work willingly.
Works with team leaders and principal to benefit from evaluation by using strengths and improving areas of need.
Exemplifies professionalism and creates a positive attitude toward the teaching profession.
Promotes understanding of District programs and policies and creates a positive attitude toward the teaching profession.
Performs other appropriate duties as assigned by the principal.
