    AUDIO-VISUAL COMMUNICATION & BROADCAST TECHNOLOGIES TEACHER
    REPORTS TO: Principal
    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Unit I Teachers’ Scale, 10- month work year, 7.5 hours per day
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Eligibility for MSDE teacher certification in Art, Technology Education, or an appropriate field.
    • Understanding of the goals of Washington County Public Schools and a commitment to their achievement.
    • Positive interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
    • Understanding of the teaching/learning/assessment process.
    • Knowledge of materials in field of specialization.
    • Knowledge and use of technology for instruction.
    • Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills.
    • Knowledge of current research and its application in field of specialization.
    • Maintain regular, on-time attendance.
    • Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodations.
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Knowledge of fundamental principles of mass communications, mass media, production, programming, editing and employability skill development.
    • Adobe Certified Professional.
    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    • Plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students, with high expectations for all students.
    • Provide for instructional needs and interests of students with the aid of appropriate and effective daily lesson planning.
    • Supervise students in a variety of school-related settings.
    • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and where classroom time is utilized effectively.
    • Demonstrate the use of a variety of teaching techniques and the use of a variety of instructional resources and materials to implement the Essential Curriculum.
    • Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.
    • Demonstrate fair, firm, and consistent behavior towards students and promote self-discipline among students.
    • Demonstrate effective communication skills and positive interpersonal relations with students, parents, staff, and community.
    • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of school system goals and objectives by following school board policies and administrative procedures.
    • Assist administrative staff and other staff members in reaching the mission of the school by applying ethical standards in professional relationships.
    • Strive to maintain and improve professional competencies.
    • Maintain appropriate records.
    • Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
    • Serve on special committees.
    • Effectively communicate with students, parents and other stakeholders via verbal and written communication.
    • Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Teach students the fundamentals of Audio-Visual Communication including the applications and techniques commonly used in the industry.
    • Instruct students using effective instructional strategies such as research projects, group discussions, cooperative learning, project and problem-based learning.
    • Examine careers in Audio, Video, Technology and Film and effectively guide students through industry career exploration.
    • Make industry connections for the purpose of facilitating real world experiences for students such as classroom guest speakers, job shadows, service learning, work-based learning and apprenticeship.
    • Administer assessments to monitor students’ comprehension of content.
    • Enhance course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment.
    EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
