Washington County (Minnesota) is Hiring an Emergency Management Coordinator Near Hillsboro, OR

THE POSITION

The Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT) is seeking a motivated Emergency Management Coordinator to plan and promote emergency management in the department and across the county. LUT is responsible for community development, land development, land use planning, transportation planning and development, and road maintenance.
The Position
The LUT Emergency Management Coordinator is responsible for coordinating emergency management efforts for LUT is also part of a team that works to build resilience and preparedness across the entire county. The position will perform emergency planning, training, and exercises for all divisions of LUT. They work with the County Emergency Management team to coordinate the development, maintenance, and testing of the County emergency operations plan and related policies, agreements, and procedures. They will develop and maintain continuity of operations plans and manage the continuous improvement of the LUT department operations center. They will also work with county, regional, and state transportation agencies and other critical infrastructure managers to ensure effective multi-agency coordination. This position also manages Washington County's hazard mitigation program. The coordinator maintains the Washington County Multi-Jurisdictional Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan which includes coordinating the plan update every five years and supporting the implementation of the plan and other risk reduction activities.
Our hybrid work model allows for working remotely 1-2 days per week.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of education, training, and experience in emergency management or related fields that will make them successful working in an intra- and inter-agency environment to enhance and maintain the emergency management capabilities of LUT and its County and community partners. This candidate will be organized, detail-orientated, dependable, self-motivated, and capable of handling multiple projects at once. They will be able to communicate effectively and confidently with County staff, organizational partners, and the public and be flexible and adaptable in responding to the ebb and flow of program management and incident response activities. They will have the ability to effectively lead small teams of LUT and other agency staff in the conducting program activities including plan and procedures development, exercise design, and training delivery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in emergency management, business administration, public administration, communications, criminal justice, or a related field and one (1) year of experience planning and coordinating emergency response programs and activities; OR
  • Associates Degree in emergency management, business administration, public administration, communications, criminal justice, or a related field and three (3) years of experience planning and coordinating emergency response programs and activities; OR
  • Any combination of certifications and experience that totals a minimum of five (5) years of progressively more responsible positions in emergency management.
Additional Requirements

  • Successful candidates must pass a full background investigation.
  • Must be able to move and lift equipment and supplies that can weigh up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be available for call-out in the event of emergencies.
