Job Description Summary: The first hand is responsible for the creation of costumes; cutting skills are required, and draping skills are a bonus. All facets of the construction process for the costumes as well as alterations, fittings, and maintenance of pulled or rented clothing items. Refurbishment/alteration of existing costumes for the production season. Essential Functions: Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions. Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff. Effective oral and written communication. Ability to work independently and good organizational skills. Advanced patterning and costume construction skills. Experience using industrial sewing machines. Expertise in altering existing costumes and supervising fittings. Work Schedule: Hours are flexible and can vary during the academic year. This part-time position is limited to 29 hours per week and 999 hours total per calendar year.
