The Assistant Director of Law School Advancement fosters close and meaningful contacts between the School of Law and its alumni, faculty, staff, and friends, leading to regular, increasing support of the School of Law’s Law Annual Fund (LAF). Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Law School Advancement (LSA), the Assistant Director of LSA is responsible for directing the Law Annual Fund and managing the Young Alumni Council. The Assistant Director works in consort with other members of the Law School Advancement office, the Dean, the Law School’s administrative team (career strategy, student affairs, admissions, communications), the University Annual Fund office, and others in central Development to ensure that all aspects of the overall program are effectively executed. Essential Functions: Direct the Law School’s Annual Fund (LAF) giving program, including direct mail, email solicitations, and reunion giving. Motivate and support Law Class Agents and reunion volunteers and work closely with the University Annual Giving Office for additional support and assistance with solicitations of Law alumni, and friends. Coordinate stewardship of LAF donors. Identify, cultivate, and solicit high-end LAF prospects, including alumni, parents, and friends. Travel to visit donors giving $500-$2500 as needed. Engage the Young Alumni Council, consisting of alumni less than 10 years from graduation, in the life and mission of the Law School. Identify, cultivate, and solicit these alumni for the LAF. Coordinate all aspects of educating current law students on the impact of philanthropy at the School of Law. Assist in the planning and implementation of special on-campus events including, but not limited to, Law Volunteer Weekend and LAF stewardship events. Perform other duties related to Law School Advancement as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree is required. Two to three years of experience in alumni relations, fundraising, or a related field is preferred. Computer proficiency is required. Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar program is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a high degree of personal integrity is essential. Some frequent travel and some evening and weekend work is required.
