GENERAL SUMMARY:

Assist the dietitian in the planning and implementation of the nutrition care plan, including patient visitation to assist with menu selection, obtain nutrition histories, provide basic diet information and modify tray service as needed. Assists in ensuring operations of the dietary department are successfully upheld including sanitation and customer satisfaction standards. Position may require kitchen support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Patient visitation for assisting with menu selection, providing basic diet guidelines and obtaining diet history.
• Act as liaison with patient, dietitians and food service regarding patient needs and meal service related concerns.
• Provide follow up to determine if patients are tolerating diets and special needs are being met, making referrals to dietitians as needed. Checking and updating computer files to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Utilize computer system to communicate with food service and maintain accurate records.
• Assist in modifying procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Provide excellent customer service.

Education / Training:

• High School graduate or equivalent.

Work Experience:

• One (2) year experience working as a food service worker or related preferred. One (1) year experience doing clinical nutrition work in long term care setting.

Certification, License, Registration:

• current CDM license.

Other Qualifications:

• Must be able to read, write, speak and communicate effectively in English. Basic computer skills.
