Pavement Marking - Experienced Operator /Experienced Driver

Warning Lites of MN is a leading subcontractor in the roadway pavement marking industry. We are looking to add a highly motivated individual experienced in the trade of installing pavement markings (white/yellow lines, turn arrows, stop bars, reflectors, etc.) on our roadways as a Pavement Marking operator (PM). Work schedules include days, nights, and weekend work. Per Diem for meals and hotel expenses paid when overnight travel required. This position reports to the Division Manager.

The Role:

As a Pavement Marking Operator/Driver, your responsibilities will include:

• Lay out, stripe, paint and maintain lane lines, center lines, crosswalks, turn arrows, stop bars, railroad crossings, parking stalls, curbs, and other pavement markings.
• General labor, layout of roadways, traffic control, setting up/taking down road signs, driving backup cushion trucks, operating hand equipment; blowers & grinders, and minor truck maintenance.
• Working as part of a crew responsible for calculating and proper placement of materials as designed, or required to apply pavement markings, signs, or other such road marking materials. Dependent upon the project, it may require installation of signs, road markers, or other traffic indicators, which requires carrying supplies for installation.
• Lift, carry, load and unload materials and equipment such as paving materials, marking supplies, sign, safety cones, stencils, spraying and extruding equipment, etc.
• Operate and maintain a variety of equipment for the application of roadway striping and maintenance of traffic control markings, which include propane torches, blowers & grinders, feeding melters and paint stripers etc.
• Perform other job-related duties as directed and instructed.

PM’s don’t mind the Minnesota weather and have a high regard for safety and excellent customer service. Successful candidates enjoy the physical demands of the position, are highly self-motivated, detailed, and take initiative to get the job done right while managing multiple tasks at once. This position does require previous experience-minimum 2 full work seasons/years and we provide additional on-the-job training. We do require the following:

• Valid Class B driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (as determined by our insurance company)
• Hazmat and/or tanker endorsement preferred
• Able to utilize GPS applications and read a map
• Ability to work long hours during Spring/Summer/Fall months
• Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and an occasional holiday
• Must be able to travel overnight and be out of town for days at a time.
• Must have the ability to lift and carry heavy objects (70 pounds), walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
• Ability to safely use miscellaneous pavement prep and marking tools, such as shovels, chalk boxes and snapping lines, brushes and brooms.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience with equipment, vehicles, and diesel mechanics
• Must have the ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Must have working knowledge of English sufficient enough to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information
• Experience performing manual labor

• Competitive hourly pay- opportunity to earn approximately $70,000 - $90,000/yr.
• Opportunity for Prevailing Wage (up to approximately $50 /hr.; depending on contract). Prevailing Wage jobs earn overtime for working more than 8 hours per day.
