Wapt is Hiring an Environmental Monitoring Technician Near Marietta, GA

Overview

WuXi AppTec is a leading global pharmaceutical, medical device open-access capability and technology platform company with global operations. We have an opening for an Environmental Monitoring Technician. This position is responsible for environmental testing of controlled environments and sampling and processing of environmental monitoring samples in compliance with GLP, GMP, GDP, ANSI/AAMI/ISO, EU, and USP standards.

Responsibilities

  • Use aseptic techniques to collect, handle, and process water, surface (i.e., contact plates or swabs), and ambient air (viable and non-viable particulate) samples in laboratories and cleanroom environments
  • Use environmental monitoring test equipment for collecting air samples for viable and non-viable particle testing
  • Ability to schedule and perform environmental testing and monitoring projects at client sites
  • Perform internal environmental monitoring data processing and reporting activities
  • Perform tasks as specified by department QA/QC checklist
  • Work on routine assignments per written procedures/protocols, where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required
  • Write reports for environmental monitoring reviews and completed assignments
  • Monitors and places orders for EM supplies
  • Assists with updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), forms, and work instructions.
  • Normally receives minimal instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments
  • Works under close supervision from supervisor or senior personnel
  • Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals
  • Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and SOPs
  • May be required to work holidays and weekends
  • May be required to work overtime
  • May be required to travel to client’s site driving the company van
  • May be required to assist in other departments
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Experience / Education

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Biology; or related field
  • 1 year of environmental monitoring/sampling experience preferred
  • Prior laboratory experience preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver license and will be subject to a driver license record check

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Basic microbiology knowledge and aseptic technique required
  • Ability to use environmental monitoring equipment
  • Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Good Documentation Practices
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required
  • Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills
  • Need to be able to read, write and understand English
  • Microsoft Word and Excel

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a controlled lab setting where biohazards and chemicals are present
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (e.g. gloves, lab coat, safety eyewear, mask)
  • Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels
  • Ability to stand / sit / walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift / push / pull / move 20 lbs. routinely
  • Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach
  • Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions
