Wanship Transportation has been a transportation leader in the Western States for over 30 years. Our specialty is moving less than truckload (LTL) freight. Wanship is a mid-sized trucking company totaling over 80 newer Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks and 130 Great Dane trailers with Thermo-King refrigerated-trailer units. Wanship is seeking an experienced mechanic in our North Salt Lake terminal. We have been in business since 1989. We are looking for dedicated, hard-working mechanics who take pride and ownership in their work. We have excellent staff from drivers, office staff, and shop staff that will make you feel like part of the family! All trucks are late model Kenworth & Peterbilt's that hum to the sound of Cummins motors. All trailers are Great Danes with Thermo-King reefers, the best of the best!

Primary Job Functions

• Inspect and complete preventative maintenance and inspections to comply with DOT regulations.
• Complete mechanical repairs.
• Utilize basic understanding of truck maintenance, diagnosis, repair, root causes of common issues, and corrective steps to keep shop equipment running at maximum efficiency.
• in a manner that facilitates the success of business operations to meet company demands and expectations.
• Assist in the moving of equipment around the yard.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area compliant with OSHA and company regulations and policies.
• Positive attitude and work well with others.
• Great attendance is required.
• Repair and required preventive maintenance of shop equipment.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

• 2-5 years of Diesel Mechanic experience.
• Mechanical or trade school certificate/completion in Heavy-Duty Diesel Tech Training and/or equivalent.
• State-certified inspector is a plus.
• ASE certifications in heavy-duty mechanics.
• Certified welder.
• CDL is a plus along with trailer backing experience.
