Position Summary...What you'll do...In this role, you will be responsible to support our eCommerce Vision centers Android engineering team, in driving down costs to implementation, championing continuous improvement, driving innovation, and learning from our senior engineers on how to develop and enhance our enterprise scale software applications and frameworks.About Team:Walmart's health and wellness team aims to revolutionize how customers manage their health, from managing medications, tracking health stats, scheduling immunization and vaccinations, receiving clinical services, to managing health records and beyond. The Mobile Engineering team is looking for a Mobile Engineer III (Native Android) who is interested in building a consumer digital experience, specifically for our Vision center. Some of the capabilities include the ability to select eyeglass frames, adding prescription glasses to an ecommerce shopping cart, virtually trying on the glasses by using a mobile device (AR/VR), customizing the lens, and ordering the personalized end-product online from the mobile app.What you'll do:Assists with the discovery phase of small-to-medium Mobile Engineering projects by collaborating with cross-functional teams to determine project strategy; interpreting strategy into sustainable mobile solutions; driving prototype development to ensure concept is feasible; and implementing prototypes to validate projects.Assists the senior and staff mobile engineers by troubleshooting business and production issues for mobile devices, plus reviewing and analyzing information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; analyzing issues based on basic understanding of mobile devices and programming; formulating and implementing an action plan; interpreting results to determine further action; and performing root cause analysis across multiple mobile devices to prevent future occurrence of issues.Be a part of the design discussions and learn how to develop shared solutions and generic components for client software development kits.Assist with completing short- and long-term solutions and timelines; receive guidance regarding project issues or roadblocks; reviewing and approving proposed solutions; help implement new architectural patterns which were proposed by the tech lead; and submit code/solution for review.What you'll bring:0-3 years of Android platform experience0-3 years of programming experience in Java, Kotlin, etc.Understanding of Android App development -- its core principles, software design patterns, and best practicesBasic understanding of various aspects of Mobile App DevelopmentExperience in integrating with REST based backend servicesExperience in working with large code bases and effectively driving large projectsAbility to work with engineers across multiple organizationsExposure in CI/CD pipelinesKnowledge integrating 3rd party SDKs and APIsExposure in caching, logging, performance tuning, and monitoringExposure in App Profiling (concepts like Rendering performance, battery issues, thread count and memory dumps)Non-functional Testing: GPU overdraw, Rendering performance, Battery issues, CPU, Thread count, Memory consumptions and leaks, Network data transfer.
