Walden School is Hiring a Director of Admissions and Family Engagement Near Pasadena, CA

Walden School is a small, independent Pre-K to 6th-grade school with over a 50-year commitment to progressive practice, social-emotional learning, diversity, equity, and inclusion. The school has a thriving waitlist, an expert and committed faculty and staff, innovative outdoor education, and stellar matriculation to the area’s best middle schools.

We are seeking a dedicated and visionary Director of Admissions and Family Engagement to lead our admissions processes and foster robust family involvement within our school community. The successful candidate will manage all facets of the student admissions experience, ensuring it aligns with Walden’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Additionally, this role will be a crucial link between the school and the Walden Family Association, enhancing community integration through active and meaningful family participation. This position will begin in August 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

Admission Management

  • Develop and implement strategic admissions policies and procedures that reflect the school’s values and educational philosophy.
  • Oversee the entire admissions process, from initial inquiries and school tours to application review, interviews, and final selections.
  • Maintain and analyze admissions data to inform strategic decisions and improve the admissions process.

Family Engagement

  • Act as the primary liaison between Walden School and the Walden Family Association, coordinating efforts to integrate families into the school community through volunteering and engagement opportunities.
  • Organize and promote events that encourage family participation and foster a sense of community and belonging.
  • Develop and implement training sessions for family volunteers, ensuring they are well-prepared to support school programs and events.
  • Establish relationships with local organizations and educational institutions to enhance the school’s visibility and attract diverse applicants.
  • Represent Walden School at community events and professional associations, upholding the school’s reputation and commitment to educational excellence.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other school leaders to ensure family engagement and volunteer to support educational goals.
  • Provide guidance and support to the admissions and family engagement team, fostering a collaborative and effective work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Communication, Business, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in admissions, family engagement, or related field in an educational setting.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage strategic and operational aspects of admissions and community engagement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated to work effectively with diverse families.
  • Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Deep understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.

Pay: $79,609.00 - $82,969.00 per year
